The question of whether subsidizing renewable energy is a
good way to wean the world off fossil fuels comes down to basically 3 clashes.
Firstly, each side has to prove whether the situation is imminent or not that
we must or must not implement renewable energy plants now. The proposition
emphasizes that the world has to reduce its energy consumption by 80% until
2050 while its natural increase is predicted to double. Secondly, if indeed the
usage of fossil fuels must come to an end, are we fully capacitated to
efficiently produce renewable energy? Or is the global society trying to push
solar panels and wind turbines anyway? The opposition’s whole argument mostly
consists of analyzing why several types of renewable energy are inefficient,
type by type. He also emphasizes that tremendous amount of fossil fuels are
required in the process of manufacturing necessary things in order to construct
renewable energy plants, and that such conditions which they require is very
troublesome for countries that cannot afford or accommodate those renewable
energy plants. Lastly, what will be the motive for these companies which
produce renewable energy to match the international standards while the demand
is too low, which is that same reason why solar panel companies ran out of
business?
