The question of whether multinational corporations (MNCs)
have the duty to show strong presence in their home countries come down to
several points. Firstly, whether these companies gain more profit in the case
of leaving most of its parts at their home countries is an important point. The
thing is that different countries have different views on this point since they
produce different products and services. Secondly, who is the fundamental owner
of these MNCs is another important point. If the state is the mother of the
corporation then they definitely have the duty to show certain level of
presence there. Thirdly, collecting raw materials from all sorts of different
origins become an important concern. In this globalized society it is so
difficult to find products born or limited to that single nation. Therefore,
where we should draw the line of outsourcing is hard to decide. Lastly, are
companies working with maximum efficiency? Or are they degrading their efficiency
because they are overinvesting in outsourcing and offshoring? The state could
provide various benefits such as protection of credibility, reputation, and
literally physical protection as well as regulations that help better growth of
these corporations. Is outsourcing efficient enough to bargain with all these
benefits?
